Before enrolling at the University of Michigan, Angie Moretto played for the Downview Boys Club, the Wexford Midgets, and the Wexford Jr. B Team. Nicknamed “Big Ange”, he was a scoring machine for Michigan for four years. His career statistics include ninety-eight goals and eighty-five assists. He led the team in scoring in the 1973-1974 season with forty-seven points and in the 1974-1975 season with sixty-seven points.
He was voted Most Colorful Rookie in 1973. He and teammate Greg Fox were the first two Michigan hockey players drafted by the National Hockey League in the Amateur Draft in 1973. He was voted Most Valuable Player for the 1974-1975 season. His most memorable experience was winning the Great Lakes Invitational in 1974 when he scored two goals in a 2-0 victory over Michigan Tech. Angie Moretto graduated from the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts with a Bachelor of Science.
